SWWAG is affiliated to the GREEN LIGHT TRUST which is a charity
based in the Suffolk village of Lawshall, formed in 1990. The group
was involved in helping villagers in Papua New Guinea to preserve
their rainforests, and decided to try to plant a wood in their own
village in England. Today, although they started with no resources,
they have a beautiful and thoughtfully designed 22 acre wooded area
which hosts many community events. As well as establishing their
own wood, GLT has helped over 40 other communities to start similar
projects. Each group started with just a few enthusiasts,
nevertheless many of these groups now have land that they are
planting trees on.
