Suffolk SAFEKey is the keyholder service offered by Suffolk Constabulary. Signing up for the service means Suffolk Constabulary has quick access to your keyholder(s) details should the police need to gain access to your property in an emergency while you are away.
Your keyholder is someone you can trust, who lives in close vicinity to your property and will have access to it when you are absent.
Having the names of nominated keyholders proves particularly useful in situations including, when you are on holiday or if you are unable to speak for yourself, maybe as the result of an injury.

Nominated Neighbour is a countywide scheme to tackle Distraction Burglary. The scheme is particularly useful where someone has been identified as being particularly vulnerable to the persuasive tactics of a distraction burglar.
The Nominated Neighbour Scheme involves people using a unique card if an unexpected caller comes to the door of an elderly or vulnerable person. The card will refer the caller to a “Nominated Neighbour” who will come back with the visitor and supervise the visit. It is hoped this will deter a potential bogus caller straight away and they will leave the area. A genuine caller will not mind following the instructions on the card.
Volunteers are sought from the community to act as Nominated Neighbours for elderly or vulnerable people living near them For more information on the Nominated Neighbour scheme please contact the Crime Reduction Officer for your district via Suffolk Police Switchboard on 01473 613500

Home Shield is a partnership, which handles referrals from front line staff from organisations such as the Police, Pension Service, or Fire Service following a visit to a vulnerable older person. Should the customer have unmet needs which ought to be referred to another organisation, their details are passed on to the Home Shield Co-ordinator. The Co-ordinator then directs the recommendations on to partner organisations according to the needs highlighted on the referral form for further action as appropriate.
This project is not specifically crime related. However, it is based on the fact that, if a person requires support in one area, there is a likelihood that other areas of concern exist. The overall aim of the partners in the project is to work together to increase the quality of life for those people or households who have been identified as requiring support. They do this by: carrying out surveys using an agreed format to identify any areas of concern; referring any areas of concern to the appropriate identified contact point; obtaining feedback on action taken; and monitoring progress against agreed performance indicators.

Data Link is a voluntary scheme for anyone living at home, who might be
reassured to know that essential information would be readily available to the Emergency Services, should they suffer an accident or sudden illness. The scheme ensures that vital information is available not only to identify you, but also to advise of relevant illnesses, allergies, medication and contact addresses.
How does the Scheme work?
Your details are stored in a clearly labelled plastic container (pictured above), which is kept in your fridge. Two matching labels, known to the Emergency Services and other care agencies are displayed in your house, one on the outside of your fridge door and the other on the inside of your front door (so it is not visible from the outside).
Further information on Data Link can be found at:
