Ipswich Central Homepage

Welcome to the Ipswich Central Safer Neighbourhood Team website.

In Suffolk, Safer Neighbourhood Teams are made up of Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers, Speicals and Police Support Volunteers.

We work alongside staff from other organisations, including district and borough councils to provide an even better service to local people across the county.

Our team has a remit to solve problems identified by local people from your area - which could range from crime and anti-social behaviour to noise and litter.

Remember, we are here to help you, so please get in touch with us if you need our assistance.  Ipswich Central team covers the St Margaret’s, Westgate and Alexandra wards.

The next neighbourhood policing meeting

We hold regular area forum meetings which are attended by the police, county, district and parish councillors, as well as many of our partners.  These are also open to the public to attend and raise any issues they may have about the area to the relevant agency.

The aim is to:

  • Discuss issues put forward by the local community
  • Arrange feedback to local people about progress
  • Use the issues discussed at the forum to set the SNT priorities at the next Tasking meetings

There will be a further priority setting meeting, open to the public, to be held on:

  • Date: Tuesday 06th April 2010 at 19:00pm
  • The meeting will be at Clifford Road Primary School
  • Information from this meeting will be used to formulate our priorities for the forth coming months. There will be further monthly meetings which will also be open to the public. All future dates and venues will be announced here.

At the last forum on the 9th March 2010 the current priorities were looked at as to whether they were still deemed a serious problem by residents and businesses, or whether they should be replaced. After putting different problems including the current priorities forward to a vote to those in attendance the results were that 2 priorities were to change and 1 stayed the same:

Stayed the same:

  • Driver driving at excess speed - Westerfield Road/Bramford Road/ Rendlesham Court/Woodbridge Road and Henley Road

The new priorities:

  • Cycling on footpaths and pedestrian areas along Westgate Street, Tavern Street and Carr Street
  • Anti-Social behviour on Bramford Road and Bramford Lane

If you can't make the meeting and would like to get in touch about something which concerns you - please contact us
