Details:
Parking is consistently highlighted as an ongoing concern that
affects many of Great Cornards residents. Alongside this, concern
has been raised in relation to the speed of vehicles passing the
local schools especially during peak drop off and pick up times.
Objectives:
We will continue to patrol all residential areas and where
offences are identified either deal with the offenders either by
the giving of suitable words of advice or where appropriate the
issuing of Fixed Penalty Tickets. We will continue to provide
a visible presence outside the schools at peak times., identifying
offenders and dealing with them proactively. We will carry out
speed checks of motorists in areas of concern.
Updates:
There is no quick fix to the issue of parking within Great
Cornard. Quite simply there has been an increase of cars per
household over recent years but no substantial increase in parking
arrangements. We continue to raise specific concerns with Babergh
District Council and Great Cornard Parish Council and speak to
repeat offenders directly. Officers have issued Fixed Penalty
Notices where offences have been committed. We are currently in the
process of training Great Cornard SNT officers in the use of Speed
Detection technology, which will soon be put to effective use in
deterring, and preventing speeding offences.
