SUFFOLK HORSEWATCH
IS A CRIME PREVENTION SCHEME AIMED, AT THE EQUESTRIAN COMMUNITY, TO
ENCOURAGE THOSE IN THE RURAL AREAS TO TAKE CRIME PREVENTION
MEASURES TO COMBAT THE INCIDENCE OF HORSE/TACK-RELATED
CRIME.
YOU CAN REDUCE THE
OPPORTUNITY FOR CRIME BY ESTABLISHING A SPIRIT OF CO-OPERATION IN
THE RURAL COMMUNITY AND ENCOURAGE A WILLINGNESS TO PASS ON
INFORMATION ON SUSPICIOUS PERSONS AND VEHICLES TO POLICE. WE CAN
THEN WARN OTHERS, DETECT MORE CRIMES AND DETER CRIMINALS FROM
COMING IN TO YOUR COMMUNITY.
BY CO-OPERATING
WITH EACH OTHER AND THE POLICE, YOU COULD HELP PREVENT MANY CRIMES
HAPPENING IN THE FIRST PLACE. THUS, MAKING YOUR COMMUNITY SAFER IN
WHICH TO LIVE AND WORK.

coming and to those who made the night
special.

Particular
interest was shown in our section on “Trailers/horse boxes and the
Law” which was presented by Pc Mike Small from our Serious
Collision Investigation Team. Lynne Barrett gave a wonderful
demonstration of the Bowen Technique and Mill Saddlery were post
coding the saddles, whilst Shirley Green from the British Horse
Society gave us the do’s and don’ts of Riding on the Road. We could
not have had this evening if those involved had not given their
spare time to assist us, so thank you again.
The
evening raised £50 in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance, many
thanks again to all of you that supported this charity, especially
those who donated items for the raffle.
If
you are interested in attending one of our Horsewatch evenings
please let me know via email as we will be organising more evenings
in the winter, I will confirm dates and places as soon as I
can.
Please
let me know if you have a demonstration or service you could
provide for one of our next evenings.
Police Direct and
Horsewatch

sign up to the scheme the better chance we have of preventing
equestrian related crime.

SUFFOLK HORSEWATCH
Suffolk
Horsewatch was launched at the Suffolk Show on the 27th and 28th
May 2009 and proved to be very popular at the show. Julie Dennis is
the main co-ordinator for Suffolk Horse watch and can be contacted
by telephone on 01473 613 500 should you have any
queries.

And Finally…………
Stay Safe and Be Seen! Get those fluro/Hi
Vis/reflective tops out when your riding no excuses!!! I see so
many riders these days wearing dark clothing, drivers will not see
you, not to mention it helps the MOD avoid you with their Planes
and Helicopters because they can see you a long way off. So Don’t
forget, even in the Summer, its good to be seen!
Happy Riding!
