Green Drive Action Group

The Green drive area of Pakefield was built on open land, which formed part of the old Lowestoft Golf Course, the remainder of which has now almost completely disappeared due to residential development.

When the last remaining area of this open space was threatened with further development the residents formed an action group to prevent this from happening in order to preserve the open space as an amenity, which could be enjoyed by residents and visitors to the area.

The group is now a well established community group in Pakefield and is supported by the South Lowestoft SNT in the form of Pc Becky Barton and PCSO Eric Rymer and the new addition to the team PCSO Lloyd Sandeno who have primary responsibility for the Pakefield Area.

The pictures show the inaugural event on the new “Pakefield Village Green” which was organised to celebrate the success of the group in preserving the open space area.
