Ever had the urge to say
something about policing (in general) but never had the lines of
communication available to be able to do so in the knowledge that
what you had to say would make a difference?
Well, that line of communication is now available to
you.
There is a new Virtual Policing Community designed to harness the
benefits of technology by using the Internet and e-mail as a
convenient, cost-effective and environmentally free way for the
Police, the Police Authority and the public to communicate with
each other. This isn’t just about
the Felixstowe & District SNT - this is about the entire
Constabulary - but with a local twist. Our aim is to recruit
approximately 100 people to participate from within the Felixstowe
and District SNT - and the other 29 SNT’s are busy recruiting too -
so in the end we hope to attract a grand total of around about 3000
people from the communities we serve who can regularly participate
in shaping local policing.
One of our colleagues puts it this
way. ….. "This is an opportunity for us to regularly consult with
the same people and be able to identify if any positive actions
taken by ourselves or our partners is actually being seen by
members of our communities as making things better. This
consistency of contact will allow us to provide a better and more
responsive policing service. We are looking to consult with people
who do not already have contact with us, so if people who aren't
able to attend public meetings or interact with the police already
and want to have a say on how their communities are policed then we
would love to hear from them."
