The following information has been produced to assist you when
you are considering carrying out building work which is subject to
the Building Regulations.
You have the choice of adopting one of two procedures under
which the work can be carried out.
FULL PLANS or BUILDING NOTICE
Full Plans
A Notice of Approval under the Full Plans procedure will give
you the protection of being able to prove that your plans meet the
standards set down in the Building Regulations.
The Full Plans procedure must be used if the building work is in
connection with a building which is:
- to be put to a relevant use under the Fire Precautions.
(Workplace) Regulations 1997
- to be put to a designated use under the Fire Precautions Act
1971
- to be erected fronting on to a private street
- to be erected over a sewer
Building Notice
The Building Notice procedure is designed to be used when those
responsible for carrying out the building work are capable of doing
so in compliance with the Building Regulations without the benefit
of detailed plans and specification.
Any plans provided or requested by the local authority would be
for information only and not subject to either rejection or
approval by the local authority.
