Information about the Safer
Neighbourhood team:
Safer Neighbourhood Teams are based in the community they
serve and
include police officers, Community Support Officers, Special
Constables, volunteers and other police staff working
alongside
councils, community partners and volunteers.
Each team works to build communities that feel safe to
live
and work in, and aims to have a positive impact on
crime,
anti-social behaviour and safety in its neighbourhood by being
more
visible and accessible. The public will also be able to have a
real
influence on the priorities of their local team.
We know that Suffolk is generally one of the safest places to live
and
work in, however things such as anti-social behaviour, graffiti,
noisy
neighbours and speeding cars are among the issues that can all have
an
impact on the quality of life for residents. By working with
other
agencies under the umbrella of Safer Neighbourhood Teams
police,
councils and other groups can aim to tackle these issues and try
to
improve things for people.
Safer Neighbourhood Teams have already seen considerable success.
In
the east of the county the scheme has been piloted in Kessingland
and
Kesgrave and both areas have recorded substantial
year-on-year
reductions in crime.
