Snow White in
Shimpling Jan 2010
A great time was had by all at our
second Panto in the Shimpling Village Hall. This year we introduced
new cast members alongside "old hands" from last year to
put on three performances over the weekend. The snowy weather
unfortunately stopped a few of our guests from
travelling but most people could attend.

Murder Mystery
Evening
On Saturday 17th October
2009 our Village Hall committee entertained the
villagers with a whodunnit and a three course supper. Reports
indicate that it was a great success and I quote:
"It was different - it was
good fun - it was entertaining and I'm sure enjoyed by all
those who attended, not only that, but we also enjoyed the
food which was
excellent".
Alpheton &
Shimplingthorne Church Harvest Fete
2008
Held on Sunday 21st September, the Alpheton and
Shimplingthorne church fete was a great success and thanks go to
our sponsors, organisers, helpers, entertainers and visitors.
A special thanks goes to Alice and John Pawsey who did a
marvellous job of organising and hosting the event
ably assisted by a committee from our two
villages.
On the day, the weather took a turn for the better and the visitors
flooded in to enjoy a superb day. In addition to the stalls,
sideshows and food outlets we enjoyed exciting and unusual child
and adult races and later, frantic terriers chased a "hare"
propelled to and fro along the racetrack. Thanks go to the
fire service and the police who attended the fete along with a
vintage car rally and pony and cart rides.

We were honoured to have as our special quest, the "queen" to
present the raffle prizes.

The day's highlight was the inaugural inter village tug-of-war
with the trophy going to Shimpling in a very close contest.
