Local Government in the future

It is proposed to move to a unitary system of local government with one council reponsible for all services.  Currently the Boundary Committee is recommending that Lowestoft and the immediately surrounding parishes should be administered from a Norfolk based council.  For the full details visit their website at http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/boundary-reviews/all-reviews/eastern/suffolk/suffolk-structural-review
It is vitally important that as many people as possible respond to the consultation.  The Parish Council will develop a response during September, after more information is published, but individuals' views are also most important. 

Disruption to access to Lowestoft and points south - summer/autumn 2008
The maintenance works to the Lowestoft bascule bridge will resume in late September. No daytime closures are planned but several overnight closures will be necessary before the works are completed. For further information see the Highways Agency website.
