Thwaite Flower & Produce Show
Another great show from the the Thwaite Gardening
Club.
CROWDS turned up to support this year's Thwaite Flower and
Produce Show held in the school room on the 2nd September. Despite
the windy weather, organisers were delighted with the number and
high quality of entries submitted into the annual show.
Organisers also say they were pleased with the turnout of locals
who went along to support the event. Anthea Heighes, said: "We had
a super day. Entries were up on last year, which was very
pleasing." The competition was light hearted and fun filled,
with David Briggs winning the Banksian Medal and Pagan Allum taking
best in show (if you see Jo Douglas ask her about her
blackberries!). The day continued and culminated in a
wonderful evening meal.
A big thank you must go to all that organised and supported on the
day, with especial thanks to Anne & Peter Gammage, Roger Allum
& Anthea Heighes to name just a few.
County Councllor Jeremy Clover
County Councllor Jeremy Clover support from the locality budget to
the sum of £400 has enabled the Stoke Ash & Thwaite Parish
Council to now undertake the parish plan that it has been eager to
do. "The parish plan is an exciting step for the parish"
stated Jon Cullum, Chairman of the parish council "Over
the next few months, we shall be asking people in the
parish what they want to change and what you want to keep.
There will be meetings and informal get-togethers, as well as a
questionnaire, it is time that parishoners were central to the
process. Without this support from Jeremy I feel this could
have remained a dream".
