Freeman Primary School, Stowupland
Freeman Community Primary School serves the villages of
Stowupland, Creeting St. Peter
and Earl Stonham. We are a village school with 176 children on
roll, including 26 children in the Nursery. The school caters for
children aged 4 – 9, with a third of the children coming from out
of catchment through parental choice.
Children spend two terms in the Nursery, joining the term after
their 4th birthday, before transferring to full time
education in the Reception Class. We are well staffed with 6.7 full
time teachers, 9 teaching assistants, 1 Nursery Nurse and 11 other
members of support staff providing administration support,
lunchtime supervision, cleaning and catering.
We have a range of lunchtime clubs run each term including
Recorders, Brass, Gardening, Sports and Choir, as well as Football,
Gymnastic, Table Tennis and Craft club run after school. Every term
a group of children are elected as School Councillors and they
address a range of issues important to them and the school.
During the school year the children go on a variety of
educational visits. Every year the Year 4 children attend a
residential trip to Kingswood, in West Runton, for 3 days. We also
work closely with the local schools and often have sports sessions
at Stowupland High school, as well as visits to Bacton Middle
School for the older children.
Stowupland Pre-School have a building in the school grounds.
They serve children from the term in which they have their third
birthday, many of whom transfer to Freeman School. At the end of
Year 4, most children transfer to Bacton Middle School. Free
transport is provided to the Middle School for children living in
catchment.
If you would like to arrange a visit we would be delighted to
meet you. Please contact the school on 01449 612067 to make an
appointment.
