Book now to learn more about environmental action
There is still time to book a place on Monday night’s (January
23) Suffolk Coastal Greenprint Forum when the spotlight will be on
grass root community action on sustainability and carbon
footprinting.
“Our Forum promises to be an excellent opportunity for local
businesses, community leaders and individuals to find out from the
head of BT’s sustainability and carbon footprinting delivery
services, Graham Seabrook what BT’s Sustainability &
Carbon Footprinting Delivery Services is doing to help
organisations reduce their Carbon Footprint.” said Andrew Cassy,
Board Member of the Suffolk Coastal Local Strategic Partnership
(LSP).
“Graham’s particular expertise is how to generate savings from the
more efficient use of information and computer technology (ICT).
This at first glance may not seem that important but research has
concluded that the ICT sector globally is responsible for as much
carbon dioxide emissions as those caused by air travel.
“He will explain how it is possible to make changes to reduce the
energy consumption of ICT and the potential of ICT in making other
parts of organisations more efficient helping to reduce costs and
emissions at the same time,” added Mr Cassy.
Among the recent projects that Mr Seabrook will be able to call
upon, is the calculation and management of the carbon footprint of
the communications services which BT is delivering for the 2012
Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The second half of the Forum is a workshop led by Dan Wheals,
the LSP and Environment Agency funded Groundwork East of England’s
Community Environmental Action Advisor. He will help put the
spotlight on what is being done at the grass roots level to reduce
carbon emissions and prepare for droughts, floods, warm and cold
temperatures.
“There are some really innovative and interesting actions and
approaches being taken by our local communities, often with the
support and assistance of the LSP or our advisor. Dan’s workshop
will combine the knowledge in the room to help shape a Sustainable
Green Communities toolkit that we hope will help more of Suffolk
Coastal's communities take positive action to combat their changing
environment.” added Mr Cassy.
The Forum and Workshop will take place on Monday January 23 at 7pm
– 9pm in The Council Chamber, Melton Hill, Woodbridge, IP12 1AU and
