The call has gone out to local groups to join a series of
information events that will be touring the district this summer
offering information and advice on where and how people can improve
their quality of life.
Organised by a partnership of the Suffolk Coastal Local
Strategic Partnership and the Suffolk Strategic Partnership, these
events aim to put people in touch with the local organisations that
can help them and also promote healthy living.
“Although this district is officially one of the healthiest in
the country, we know that there are still many people who
experience poor health or stress-related problems without knowing
who they can turn to,” said Councillor Sherrie Green, member of the
Suffolk Coastal Local Strategic Partnership.
“These events will help people get in touch with the large local
network of organisations that can help, with lots of information on
what our hardworking voluntary sector and organisations such as the
Council can offer. There will also be lots of information on how a
healthy lifestyle may contribute to a feeling of well-being.
“We now want to hear from as many local groups as possible that
want to join the events and get their message across to our
residents,” continued Councillor Green.
Also available will be information on clubs and groups that
offer physical activity and recreation and activities that young
people can become involved in to keep them occupied in their spare
time.
There will be activities for young people put on by the
Council’s Active Leisure team and health promotion activities for
people of all ages.
“People who want to get more active in their community by giving
up some of their spare time to support the efforts of the voluntary
sector, can also visit the events to find out how they can become
involved,” added Councillor Green.
The Quality of Life information events will be from 10am to 3pm
and will be held at:
Kingston Fields, Woodbridge on Saturday, July 29
Coronation Sports Ground, Felixstowe, on Sunday, August 20
Victory Road Park, Leiston on Saturday, September, 2
If a local community or voluntary group would like to take part
in one or all of the events or have their information displayed,
they should contact Sharon Jarrett at Suffolk Coastal on 01394
