Eastern Region Neighbourhood Watch / Home Watch
Partnership
Aims and Objectives
Aim:
To provide a forum for the Eastern Region to meet, discuss,
plan and develop Crime and disorder issues in urban and rural
communities in the six counties.
Purpose :
- Promote Neighbourhood Watch/ Home Watch for the benefit of the
community in partnership with the police and other agencies
- Work with the police and other voluntary and statutory agencies
in identifying, targeting and providing crime prevention advice and
where appropriate practical assistance in improving security
- Create opportunities to bring together individuals and groups
at meetings and presentations to encourage neighbours within a
community to play an active role in neighbourhood watch schemes and
crime prevention activities.
- Develop good practice through, supporting individual and group
development by providing ongoing networking, sharing information
and equipment.
- Research, comprehend, communicate and apply crime and disorder
policy as it applies to neighbourhood watch/ home Watch in the
Eastern Region
- Build partnerships within the Regions voluntary sector
organisations.
- Plan and organise training delivery to develop the knowledge
and skills of neighbourhood watch / Home Watch co-ordinators and
members.
- Manage regional events, conferences, seminars and
exhibitions
- Promote initiatives and develop region wide and cross border
crime and disorder projects in its widest sense.
- Encourage community involvement with the emphasis directed to
high crime areas, minority groups and young people.
- Conduct research identify best practice and publish the
findings
- Where practical to share resources and equipment across the
region.
- Monitor the progress of any Regional project undertaken by the
Partnership and report the findings.
- Provide support within individual counties for Crime &
Disorder Partnership Schemes
- Provide a strategic direction and regional focus for all
activities in relation to Neighbourhood Watch/ Home Watch
- Plan and organise training delivery.
- Seek funding opportunities from the Regional Community Safety
Fund and other sources
The Partnership will meet quarterly. Each County will host the
meeting in rotation.
Partnership Members
Representatives from each of the County Associations
Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk,
Suffolk.
Plus Police advisor Go East.
Partnership Meetings
Members of the Partnership will meet quarterly at agreed venues
around the region.
Accountability
- The Partnership group will engage and consult as widely as
possible with member partners.
- Democratic decisions taken by the group will be upheld and
acted upon.
- Each partner member will report back to the group through their
organisation any significant issues and up date other relevant
meetings they attend
- The group will take fully into account the commitment and
capacity of all partners.
- The group will seek to ensure equal opportunities apply in all
their
actions.
