Allotment basics

Digging sounds like hard work to many of us, however, many allotment holders dig their plots once only. The plot is then covered and remains that way until the allotment holder is ready to plant in it. After planting, once a crop has reached maturity and has been harvested, the ground will then be covered with carpet, mulch etc, until it is required for use again.
An initial investment of time followed by a few hours per month can produce you pounds of fresh vegetables and fruit.
If you are to spend approximately £60 on seeds and fertilisers a year, you can expect to produce fruit and vegetables that could cost over three times or more than this amount in a supermarket.

The rewards; Your own fruit, vegetables and flowers.
