Being a witness is very important because
without them there is no justice. In short, it means No Witness,
No Justice.
Since April 2003, all the criminal
justice agenices and partnering organisations have been involved
the No Witness, No Justice programme aimed at making the witness
and victim expereince as effiecient and appreciative of individual
needs as possible.
No Witness, No Justice
puts victims and witnesses of crime at the heart of the
criminal justice system, providing the assistance and care
where it is needed most.
The key element for implementing No Witness, No Justice
was the creation of Witness
Care Units located across Suffolk.
Special Measures – help with
giving evidence
Children under 17, victims of sexual
offences and people with communication difficulties may need help
with giving evidence. Some people find the process of giving
evidence in court particularly difficult or daunting for
reasons such as the nature of the crime or their relationship with
the defendant. These people (described as vulnerable or
intimidated witnesses), may be allowed to use “special
measures” to help them give their evidence in the best possible
way.

provides information on giving
evidence.
