"As gesture that rises up out of the depths of time."

Rainer Maria Rilke

ORIGINS: Spiritual

"That which is called the Christian Religion existed among the ancients, and never did not exist, from the beginning of the human race until Christ came in the flesh, at which time the true religion which already existed began to be called Christianity."

St Augustine of Hippo, Retractions

"To listen... to the Teaching of The Holy Spirit is to be always young, always new, always modern."        Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh

ORIGINS: Physical

Once upon a time, many years ago - in the early 1200's to be roughly precise, a Richard Weyland built a Free Chapel dedicated to St Thomas on the north side of the village. Divine Service was held there regularly until it was demolished around 1485 - 1505 apparently because of a Tithe dispute. (Information derived from 'Witnesham and The Meadows Family' by W.S.M. Meadows. Ipswich Record Office)

That Free Chapel is the inspiration behind this Free Chapel founded in 2006 and which is dedicated to St. Raphael the Archangel of Healing (Raphael means 'God Heals') Our Lady of The Mysteries and to St Edmund The Patron Saint of Suffolk.

"Open now the crystal fountain
whence the healing stream doth flow..."
William Williams

O Christ,
You lived and breathed everything that matters.
Whatever the resistless Power that was in you, Let it be in me as well.
Whatever the energy that healed those who came into contact with you, let it flow through me as well.
Fill me with the vision, the tenderness and the passion, that filled you.

Angela Ashwin (adapted)

                                                                                                                         in a secluded chapel
History is now and England.

With the drawing of this Love and the voice of this Calling

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time...

And all shall be well and
All manner of thing shall be well
When the tongues of flame are in-folded
Into the crowned knot of fire
And the fire and the rose are one.

From  Four Quartets by T.S.Eliot
