Well Restoration

The Well Chapel is so named because we have an old well here, as well...as springing from another meaning of the word - good health - spiritual, mental, emotional as well as physical, likewise as springing from yet another meaning - of suprise and joy through sudden realization, intuition or insight.

Being at the top of a hill, the well - just like Jacob's Well at Sychar in Israel where Christ asked for a drink from the Samaritan Woman (known in the Orthodox Tradition as St Photini - the enlightened one) is quite deep.

The WellOurs is 22 metres deep and is in need of restoration...

If, for some reason our mains water supply broke down through extreme climatic conditions or war, terrorism or whatever, and there was an inability of our Councils/Goverment to supply sufficent water via tankers and bottled water - short or long term, we would be in dire straits - water butts would not last long!
We would therefore need to literally tap into/draw from our local independent supplies i.e bore holes and wells to help us through as best as possible.
So, in the same Philanthropic spirit of Florence Agnes Cronin the lady who built this house (then Windy Pitch) back in the 1920's (her memorial tablet can be seen in the West Chapel at Ipswich Crematorium) we wish to get the well restored to supply the local community in times of such need.

Yes, with genuine communal foresight let us 'think ahead to drink ahead'.

If you would like to make a donation towards this end, we would be very grateful as it is a big job and will not be cheap - however - 'Where there is a well, there is a way!'
Please make your most wellcome cheques payable to: The Well Restoration Fund. We have also produced full colour Greeting Cards of our Icon seen on the Home Page at £1.25 each with envelope. P&P extra

Thank you very much

"See, the streams of living waters,
springing from eternal love,
well supply thy sons and daughters,
and all fear of want remove.
Who can faint while such a river
ever flows their thirst to assuage:
grace which, like the Lord the giver,
never fails from age to age."
