Our objectives
- to prevent crime by encouraging goods vehicle operators to
continually strive to improve security and adopt effective crime
prevention measures;
- to help with the detection of criminals by using communication
networks effectively;
- to reduce undue fear of crime by providing accurate information
about risks;
- to improve police-community relationships by fostering regular
liaison and contact between the police, other enforcement agencies,
the road haulage industry and associated organisations.
Reponsibilities
To further the above aims the police should:
- upon receipt of information regarding a stolen commercial
vehicle circulate details to Truckwatch members and enforcement
agencies
Members should:
- advise their drivers as soon as practicable of the stolen
vehicle details.
- advise the police using the 999 system if the vehicle is
located.
