Local
Development Framework
Update - January 2010
Suffolk Coastal
District Council have supported the proposal put by Ufford Parish
Council to downgrade Ufford from a Key Service Centre to a Local
Service Centre. This has been welcomed by the Parish
Council.
Consultation
Over 70 people turned out on 29
January 2009 to listen to the Parish Council present their
proposals to the Local Development Framework
consultation.
The basis for the proposal came from the outcomes
of the Parish Plan, reflecting the wishes and aspirations of the
majority of the parish.
The overriding theme of the evening was the
vision ‘to conserve and protect the natural, built and community
environment of Ufford for present and future generations to
enjoy.’
The proposal was greeted with resounding support
from the public:
· That Ufford be designated as a Local Service
Centre
· To retain the village envelope without
amendment
· That the 4 existing and 3 new ‘areas to be
protected from development’ are incorporated
· That all of the proposed areas for development
outside the village envelope are rejected
· To extend the Conservation Area to include the
water meadows between Spring Lane and School Lane
· That the woodland between Parklands and The
Avenue is given increased protection
All those attending were invited to give
feedback. This was fed into the Parish Council meeting on 5
February at which the response to Suffolk Coastal District Council
was finalised.
The final decision will, of course, rest with the
District Council. However, the village, as a united voice, will
have made itself heard.
