Community Chest Fund

The Community Chest Fund has helped 19 local community projects benefit from over £20,000 of grant aid delivered by the West Suffolk Local Strategic Partnership.

The Community Chest Fund was launched in June 2008. Bids had to be £15000 or less and needed to match the main aims of the West Suffolk LSP: opportunities for children and young people; safe and sustainable communities; healthier communities and a prosperous economy.

Successful projects were as follows:

  1. Gainsborough's House Society workshop activities
  2. Suffolk Befriending Scheme sport coaching
  3. Glemsford Parent and Toddler Group "Start to play" packs x2
  4. Volunteer Centre Haverhill youth project
  5. Extra Steps and Beyond Club's day trips
  6. Volunteer Centre Bury St Edmunds to promote and recruit new volunteers
  7. Sudbury Amateur Boxing Club's essential repairs
  8. Red Lodge Millennium Centre Ltd garden renovations
  9. Red Lodge Great Crusade War-Game Society setting up the group
  10. Kernos Centre painting exterior of own builing
  11. 2nd Mildenhall Guides interactive cultural celebrations event
  12. SCATS to work within the eastern region
  13. Age Concern Suffolk's healthy eating menu's
  14. GATEOPENER to part fund information packs
  15. 1st Red Lodge Scout Group setting up the group
  16. Newmarket Community Partnership to resource the school holiday activities
  17. One Voice for Travellers Ltd to produce information displays
  18. The Unity Croquet Club Trust's new disabled toilet and replacement of wooden pavillion
  19. Grampian Gunners Under 10's Football Club's new kit and goal posts for new Under 11's team 2009/10
