Our Vision

Our vision is to ensure people in Waveney enjoy good health and well-being and enjoy the quality of life that Waveney’s diverse district has to offer.

Our Partnerships

CMHI is a partnership between Waveney Community Forum, Great Yarmouth and Waveney Primary Care Trust, Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health Partnership Trust, Respite and Suffolk Carers, Family Welfare Association, the Mental Health Service Users Forum, Great Yarmouth and Waveney Mind who all work together to improve mental Health and well-being.

Food and Nutrition is a group of community nutritionists, dieticians, teachers, local food cooperatives, occupational therapists, community nurses Great Yarmouth and Waveney primary care trust public health Team Suffolk County Council Community Health Team and Extended Schools who aim to network good practice on what works, look at where we can teach food competencies such as budgeting, shopping for local nutritional products, how to read food labels and food preparation skills.

Physical Activity Group is a partnership between the Great Yarmouth and Waveney Primary Care Trust, public Health, Physical Activity Instructors, Physical Education Teachers, Waveney District Council, Suffolk County Council Sports Development Officers, County Sports Partnership, Sport England who meet to develop ways to encourage more people to become more active more often.

Smoke Free Suffolk is an alliance of Great Yarmouth and Waveney Primary Care Trust, eight district and Borough Councils Suffolk County Council and the National Health Service Stop Smoking Service who coordinate the implementation of the local Smoke Free East Strategy, encouraging employers and businesses to become smoke free environments, working to stop sales of tobacco to underage children and developing resource packs for schools.


Our Priority Actions

We will promote and support healthy lifestyle choices around diet, physical activity and smoking which will reduce the number of early deaths from preventable diseases.

We will signpost people to services and help more people who want to stop smoking to do so.

We will provide support to local businesses and employers towards becoming smoke free.

We will get more people more active more often.

We will support more older people to live at home for longer.

We will make sure sexual health services are accessible to more people.
