Parish Plan

It is the gathering together and establishing a consensus of everyone’s ideas and views as to how the Parish can best be developed, run and directed now and for the future. The Plan once formulated is not to be a static document but will be subject to review and provide an evolving policy guide to meet the changing needs and expectations of Westleton.

The Plan will cover all aspects of village life and include anything that is felt of relevance and concern to Westleton.

  • · Building Development, Planning and land usage.
  • · Affordable Housing - including a Housing Need survey
  • · Second homes - to be welcomed or resisted?
  • · St.Peter’s Church – then, now and the future.
  • · Needs and provision for the younger generation. Retirement, help for the elderly, home assistance, ‘Care in the Community’.
  • Recreational facilities and play areas. Village Hall, community activities and events. Clubs Associations, Newsletter – who are they and what are they doing?
  • · Highways, maintenance of verges and hedges, road safety and speed limits.
  • · Footpaths and countryside access.
  • · The changing face of our environment and countryside. Protection and conservation of wildlife, trees and plants
  • · Public transport and access to shops, health and recreational facilities.
  • · Policing and community security, emergency planning and mutual aid.
  • · Working in or around Westleton. Farming, small businesses.
  • · Promotion of the use and access to locally produced, food, goods and services.
  • · Waste, recycling, pollution and energy efficiency.
  • · Westleton’s history, heritage and character. A profile of residents past and present, friends and visitors. Village records and archives.

The list goes on and on!
