We look forward to seeing lots of
people on the Green on the afternoon of 12th for our Hymns on the
Green, accompanied by Gislingham Silver Band.
If you have a favourite hymn that would have been sung 100 years
ago please let Ron Wright or Liz Varley know as soon as possible so
that the band can make sure they have the music. Liz is also
preparing some 'uplifting words' based on those of the vicar here
100 years ago.
Please note that as in a couple of recent years during August, we
will have only Benefice services, one in each parish, as due to
holidays everyone's congregations tend to drop to very low numbers.
This seems to have worked well before so please support the
services that you can and ask for a lift if necessary, those with
cars will be happy to fill empty seats and ease the parking
problems that arise when everyone travels separately. Every August
service will be at 10.30am and will be a communion service where
all will be welcome.
The South Porch is now finished and redecorated. We are very
grateful to the architect and the contractors for completing the
job on time and on budget. We are also delighted to report that the
national Historic Churches Preservation Trust has sent a grant of
£2,500 towards the costs.
Please can someone come forward to help Julie Keable with the
flowers and cleaning at the end of the
month?
