The ground floor Council Chamber is licensed for wedding ceremonies and civil partnership ceremonies and can be hired. It is a large and airy room which can hold up to 80 people (seating for 50) and is carpeted and curtained with pleasant furnishings.

Entrance is from the main steps. A disabled persons access can be arranged. Photographs may be taken in and around the building. Food and drink are not permitted. Confetti is not permitted either inside or outside the building including the paved and cobbled area.  The nearest public Pay and Display car parks are located at Theatre Street and Oak Lane - Click here to view a map.  The Council Chamber is open approximately half an hour before the ceremony commences.

The Superintendent Registrar and a Registrar perform the wedding ceremony and arrangements for this have to be made separately direct with their office (01394 387876).

The Shire Hall Council Chamber can be reserved provisionally by telephone (01394 383599) between the hours of 9a.m.-2 p.m. Monday to Friday. The cost of hiring the room is £300.00. (with effect from 01.05.08)

A Hiring Agreement has to be returned complete with full payment before a final reservation is confirmed.
