With the advent of a new landlord G.A.S have
been able to negotiate the use of The Griffin's dining room for
monthly sessions of all types of acoustic music and entertainment.,
including folk music, jazz, bluegrass, Irish, and the very special
brand of poets, like Les Barker who tour the folk clubs of the
world. Sessions will be held at approximately monthly intervals and

March 5 2008 Martin Carthy in informal solo
session. Though
known primarily for his solo acoustic work Martin Carthy is also
known as part of Steeleye Span, Waterson Carthy, Brass Monkey and
Imagined Village who recently appeared on Jools Holland's BBC2 show

15 2008 John Barnes Trio. Baritone and Alto sax. Formerly
with Alex Welsh and Humphrey Lyttelton. Now "a world class player"
says Humph. With ex-Chris Barber man Vic Pitt on bass and an old
Griffin session favourite Tony Pitt (Alex Welsh) on guitar.
May 12 2008 John Kirkpatrick. "In a class of his own"
(Folk Roots). At the forefront of innovative folk in
Britain, and has worked with Richard Thompson Band, Brass Monkey,
Band of Hope and as a solo artist. John Kirkpatrick is regarded as
a virtuoso performer of free reed instruments such as melodeon and
concertina.

June 17 2008 Alan Barnes Trio. Another former
Lyttelton musician, specializing on Alto and Baritone sax. Has
appeared once before at The Griffin to a capacity audience.
July 16 2008 Steve Phillips. One of the great
European fingerstyle guitarists to emerge from the 1960s, Steve
will be playing a solo acoustic set, although he is also well known
for his work with Dire Straits' Mark Knopfler, The Notting
Hillbillies and The Rough
Diamonds.

September 10 2008 Les Barker. Arguably the most
successful of all the folk poets and
comedians, Les Barker now tours folk clubs all over the
world.
