T
he Yoxford branch was formed just after the First World War in
1928, during the thirties numerous cups were won for its work in
the Village.
Membership peaked during
the Forties and Fifties as a result of the two World Wars and
National Service and at this time there were some 150 members
mostly war veterans, some ex National Servicemen.
Much valuable welfare work
was carried out and on the social side there were monthly dances
and an annual Christmas party for the children of
members.
In recent years with the
passing of time membership has declined so that at present there
are twenty members and the Yoxford branch is now a sub branch of
Saxmundham.
The Branch Standard is
still paraded annually at The Remembrance Service and at group
rallies also at member’s funerals.
Representatives attend the
monthly meetings at Saxmundham and the quarterly F. Group meeting
at Leiston
New members are always
welcome; it is not a requirement to have been a member of the armed
forces. If you are interested please contact one of the above
officers.
