Age Concern Suffolk provide a number of day care services across
the county, to help prevent frailer older people from becoming
socially isolated and to help them continue to enjoy living in
their own homes in the local community as long as they choose to do
so.
All day care services are run as 'clubs' on behalf of the people
who attend them. Our service users are club members and are offered
the opportunity to participate in a number of activities
including:-
- Games and Quizzes
- Crafts
- Speakers and entertainers
- Gardening
- Gentle exercise
Other opportunities available (depending on location)
include:-
- Bathing
- Hairdressing
- Chiropody
- Nailcare and hand massage
- Computer training
- Outings
- Shopping
- Laundry service
- Packed teas
A hot nutritious meal and refreshments through out the day are
also provided for all members, taking into consideration any
special dietary requirements and their personal choice.
Age Concern Suffolk also provide a number of special day care
services for people living with dementia.
Many of the people attending day care services have care needs
which have been assesed by Suffolk County Council and therefore can
be elligible for sponsorship by the County Council. Otherwise those
members are able to buy a place at one of the day care
services.
