We are a parish of some 10,500 people located on the fringes of
Sudbury, in the picturesque Stour Valley. The area is in
Constable and Gainsborough country, and within easy reach of scenic
Suffolk countryside, the facilities of Ipswich and the East Coast
resorts.
Great Cornard is divided up for electoral purposes into two
electoral wards. The north ward is predominantly council housing,
built for the Greater London Council in the 1960’s, and the south
is mainly owner-occupied. The two wards return seven
members each to the Parish Council and two members each to the
District (Babergh District Council). All of Great
Cornard returns one member to the County Council.
The concept for the Cornard info Website was to offer a source
of information and contact details for the residents in the village
of Great Cornard and the surrounding area but everyone would be
welcome to use it. There is still a lot more to be added
but to find out
