Jean Barker is seen receiving, for the second consecutive year,
the Suffolk Association of Local Councils 'Newsletter of the Year'
award on behalf of a team of dozens of volunteers and contributors
who have produced the magazine each and every month for 26 years
for free distribution to every household and to businesses in the
village. The current distribution run is 1700 copies in a new A4
full-colour format. The cost is entirely supported by advertising.
Last year's revenue was some £26,000.00 producing a surplus for the
Elmswell Amenities Association, the publisher, of some £9,000.00.
The Amenities Association is a registered charity and is currently
raising funds towards a joint venture with the Parish Council to
build an extension to the Blackbourne Hall - Blackbourne Phase II -
which aims to provide facilities for young people in the community
and for indoor sports activities. The Elmswell Newsletter can be
