Welcome to the Barham, Claydon and Gt Blakenham Website
There is a unique and underrated link between our three Parishes –
Claydon and Barham are geographically inextricably linked,
therefore many issues and community facilities are common to both
Parishes. Great Blakenham is a valued neighbour and the planning
developments attaching to the former Blue Circle site have brought
an even closer working relationship.
Please browse these pages and if you have any feedback please
email.
Alternatively please jump to
the council webpage
with regards to contacting your local parish council, or specific
Claydon or
Barham news.

Gateway to Homechoice
At a meeting at Mid Suffolk District Council we heard that
Gateway to Homechoice is the name of a new choice based lettings
scheme used to allocate council and housing association homes in
seven district council areas. If you are, or wish to be, on the
housing register the contact details for a leaflet from Mid Suffolk
District Council are Tel. 01449 724760 e-mail
homechoice@midsuffolk.gov.uk
or see the website
www.midsuffolk.gov.uk.
The leaflet explains the scheme so that you are clear about how you
qualify and apply for housing, it will also explain how you take
part in selecting homes and the types of considerations that have
to be taken into account in deciding who should be offered any
particular housing. 23/11/09
Waste Incinerators
Just 77 people signed in at the public fact finding session at
Gt. Blakenham. Recent news from Suffolk County Council suggests
that the two identified sites in Great Blakenham and one in
Sproughton will become a reality. The next stages are a planning
application in February 2010, a public hearing May/June 2010 with
the results due October 2010 followed by Suffolk County Councils
adoption as planning policy in December 2010. You should get your
chance to comment at the planning stage and attend the public
enquiry, please let the Parish Council know what you feel about
these incinerators in our area.

Sizewell Consulation
Sizewell is considered by Government to be potentially suitable for
a new nuclear power station. The Government is consulting on its
draft Nuclear National Policy Statement and list of sites,
including Sizewell, around the country that might be suitable for
new nuclear power stations.
The draft Nuclear National Policy Statement explains how sites are
assessed, why we need new nuclear power and the Government's policy
on managing radioactive waste safely. It will set the framework for
planning decisions on new nuclear power stations

Message from Ambulance
Service
We all carry our mobile phones with names and numbers stored
in its memory. If we were to be involved in an accident
or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile
phone but wouldn't know who to call. Hence this 'ICE'
(IN CASE OF EMERGENCY) Campaign.
The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a
method of contact during emergency situations. As
mobile phones are carried by the majority of the population, all
you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons
who should be contacted during emergency under the name
'ICE'. The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found
that when he went to the scenes of accidents there were always
mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to
call out of perhaps hundreds stored.
In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel would be
able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialling the
number you have stored as 'ICE' (IN CASE OF EMERGENCY).
PLEASE TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THIS EXCELLENT SCHEME
