What is Sailability?
All over the world, members of the sailing
community have provided facilities for disabled people to be able
to enjoy this activity.
They might simply wish to be sailed, or be to able sail the boat
themselves. The Royal Yachting Association Sailability governs
sailability.
Its rules and operating guidelines, accreditation and the setting
of standards. WASH Sailability will conform to all of these and
will become accredited by RYA Sailability.

The kind of disability you have will make little or no
difference to whether you can access this service, be it physical,
mental, or sensory you are all welcome!
This service is
available in various parts of Eastern Region but there is a huge
gap in our part of that region.
We have called our part West Anglia as it covers the west of
Suffolk, the north of Essex, a large part of Cambridgeshire and the
extreme east of Hertfordshire.
The Club will be known as WASH Sailability
and will use facilities and Instructors etc of the St
Edmundsbury
Sailing and Canoeing Association
(SESCA) at their site on Lackford Lakes North
of Bury St Edmunds (near West Stow).
The SESCA facilities will be upgraded to make it more
accessible and obtain additional sailing boats designed for
disabled sailors to operate.
A new pontoon with a hoist will be in place to enable those that
require help in and out of the boats.
