Welcome to the Kedington Parish Council
Web Site |
We hope you find this site both useful and
informative.
Kedington is a village of around 1800 residents, situated
between Clare and Haverhill in the south-west corner of
Suffolk. The City of Cambridge and towns of Newmarket and Bury
St. Edmunds are all about 30 minutes away by
road.
There are several shops, including a post office and
butcher in the centre of the village, but if you need to go
further afield, then there are buses that go to Haverhill,
Cambridge and Bury St. Edmunds, several times a day. We also have a
library, a couple of pubs and a doctor's
surgery.
The village boasts many organisations catering for lots of
interests and most can be found on the 'Clubs and Organisations'
page within this site.

!!GOOD
NEWS!!
Suffolk PCT has announced that the Kedington surgery will
not close for the time being. The surgery will remain open and the
situation will be reviewed again in 12 months.
Well done to all those that campaigned to keep the surgery open and
those in the village that signed the
petitions.

The new Local
Development Framework Consultation documents have been
published and they include a document on Site Allocations. The only
site listed for Kedington is a piece of land behind the Limes
(opposite West End Lane) and stretching across to Dash End Lane.
However, this does not necessarily mean that the
site will be considered for development. The consultation ends on
the 5th January and you have the opportunity to raise your support
for or objections against the proposal. More information can be
obtained from libraries and Council offices in the Borough.
There is also a meeting at Samuel Ward School on Monday 17
November from 7 - 9pm or Wednesday 19 November at the Athenaeum in
Bury St. Edmunds from 7pm - 9pm. If you wish to attend please call
Jackie Ward from the St. Edmundsbury Planning Policy dept. on 01284
757364.
There will also be two drop-in sessions, one at Kedington library
from 9.30am - 1.00pm on Saturday 15 November or at the Royal
British Legion Hall on Friday 21 November from 4.0pm -
7.30pm.
