We hope you find this site both useful and informative.

Kedington is a village of around 1800 residents, situated between Clare and Haverhill in the south-west corner of Suffolk. The City of Cambridge and towns of Newmarket and Bury St. Edmunds are all about 30 minutes away by road.

There are several shops, including a post office and butcher in the centre of the village, but if you need to go further afield, then there are buses that go to Haverhill, Cambridge and Bury St. Edmunds, several times a day. We also have a library, a couple of pubs and a doctor's surgery.

The village boasts many organisations catering for lots of interests and most can be found on the 'Clubs and Organisations' page within this site.

!!GOOD NEWS!!

Suffolk PCT has announced that the Kedington surgery will not close for the time being. The surgery will remain open and the situation will be reviewed again in 12 months.

Well done to all those that campaigned to keep the surgery open and those in the village that signed the petitions.

The new Local Development Framework Consultation documents have been published and they include a document on Site Allocations. The only site listed for Kedington is a piece of land behind the Limes (opposite West End Lane) and stretching across to Dash End Lane. However, this does not necessarily mean that the site will be considered for development. The consultation ends on the 5th January and you have the opportunity to raise your support for or objections against the proposal. More information can be obtained from libraries and Council offices in the Borough.

The results of the consultation are expected July/August time with further consultation to follow.

Did you know that in 1578, Queen Elizabeth I passed through Haverhill on her way from Horseheath Hall to Kedington Hall?

This and other interesting facts can be found on the 2 new links that have been added to the History Page. One is a link to the Local Heritage Project, showing historical photographs of Kedington. The other is a link to the history of Haverhill and surrounding areas from the the Iron Age.

The latest edition of Kedington Contact, full of useful information and contact numbers, will soon be available in paper format but can be found here now. Please note it is in pdf format and a reader can be downloaded for free by using the link to Adobe on the Parish Council page
