There was a great turn out with visitors coming from far and wide who thoroughly enjoyed all that was on offer.

Everyone's having a ball!

Thanks to their generosity a sum exceeding £3,000 was raised to be shared between St Andrews Church Fabric Fund and the Village Hall.

Once again the organization was superb and grateful thanks go to the stall holders and a significant number of individuals, too numerous to mention, who put in a tremendous amount of hard work behind the scenes.

Salsa Taster Class in Kettleburgh

salsaposter
Salsa is one of the World’s most popular partner dances. It’s also a great way to keep fit and socialise. Rob Booth will take you through the basics, over 6 weeks, starting on Monday 26th July at 8pm in the Village Hall.

No experience necessary and you don’t need to bring a partner to enjoy the class. Rob will ensure you develop your skills in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere with plenty of time to practice. There’s also the prospect of a Salsa evening in the autumn for you to show off your skills. (Ladies, if you can persuade a male partner or friend to join us it will help balance the numbers as the men are normally out numbered!)

Classes are free but we ask for a donation in support of the Village Hall. For more information contact Rob or phone 01728 723502.

Dedication of Painting by Local Artist

Midday on St Georges’s Day was the perfect occasion for triptychaa celebration in a Suffolk country church. St Mary’s, Letheringham was the setting for a service of dedication by the Bishop of Dunwich. The ancient priory church, accessed across the adjoining farmyard, was filled with the sound of singing. This was a fitting accompaniment to the words of dedication of Tessa Newcomb’s triptych painting. It depicts the life of this small parish as seen by the artist, measuring six feet by five feet and fixed to the north wall of the nave. The detailed rural scene includes words from Psalm 24: “The earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof, the world and they that dwell therein.” In his words of dedication Bishop Clive spoke these words: “Bless this painting and let it be a reminder triptych1ato all who admire it that you are the God who created the world and all it contains. Teach us to reflect your truth and your goodness in our lives each day and so give you honour and glory.”

In his short address he recalled the prehistoric cave paintings at Lascaux, both comparing and contrasting the effects and settings. As the congregation left for refreshments at The White Horse, Easton, they were able to compare Tessa’s painting with the tranquil scene in the churchyard and the landscape of fields beyond.
