The Adults and Healthier Communities Block Board 3 was built within
the delivery structure for Local Area Agreement 1 and ran from June
2005 to July 2008. Its aim was to create and support
healthier communities and to reduce health inequalities, as well as
to improve quality of life, in particular for older people.

By 2008 the Board had addressed issues of falls prevention,
community transport and been involved in consultations on changes
to health and care services in Suffolk. The Chairman of the Board
became the Stop Smoking Champion for Suffolk and the Board gave
support to the smoking quit services in the County. It provided
funding for schemes to promote physical activity, for people aged
45 and over, and for family carers, and for schemes to tackle
social isolation of older people.
The Board has led and promoted a shared vision
for adults through the development of the 2008 - 2011 Adults Plan,
which articulates a set of shared outcomes, priorities and
commitments across partner organisations.
