Welcome to Catering &
Grow
Catering & Grow was formed in 2008 when ‘Cook For Life’
became a partner of The Grow Organisation.
Cook for Life is a social enterprise CLG
born out of the catering company Petit Four. Petit Four was
established in 2003, starting life as ‘Petit Four Tearooms’,
serving professional standard homemade cakes, scones and pastries
as well as a wide variety of teas.
Petit Four has always taken pride in using the finest fresh
ingredients, providing first class customer service, whilst
promoting the skills of home cooking.
The founder of Cook for life, Jackie Edwards, has always been
passionate about passing on these skills to others and along with
Hayley & Stephanie, together they provide training
and work experience through Catering & Grow.
Cookery lessons have been absent in schools for many years which
has led to at least two generations having no knowledge of how to
cook and feed their families.
Cook for Life aims to
teach people the skills needed for everyday cookery in the home,
focuses on how to feed a family on a budget, as well as health,
hygiene and safety in the home. It provides accredited
qualifications and work experience in the catering industry helping
those disadvantaged in the labour market...
Emphasis is also placed on healthy eating and how to incorporate 5
a day without spending a fortune.
Social skills are also encouraged allowing people to interact with
others in a relaxed and fun environment with food being the
focus.
Cook for Life now offer NOCN Courses allowing people to gain
catering qualifications and work experience within the Cook for
Life kitchens.
The skills gained during the training will benefit the participants
greatly in their home lives as well as providing the opportunity of
pursuing a career in the catering industry.
Cook for Life is synonymous with the phrase...
“Cooking Today, Changing
Tomorrow”
The way we cook today ultimately has an effect on our lives
tomorrow. Cooking is an invaluable skill used throughout one’s life
and learning to cook in a healthy and positive way can improve
one’s lifestyle, health and wellbeing, as well as those of their
family.
Why Catering For Life is so
important...
“It is predicted that 13
million Brits will be obese by 2010”
“As a nation we eat 50%
