Thank you for showing support
for the Dignity in Care Campaign.
We have now been running for 2 years and we
have over 6000 champions signed up to support the
campaign!
With so many champions signed up with different
interests we are now updating our lists to find out what your
specific interests are and to ensure that we have correct details
for you. By collecting this extra information we hope to be able to
provide a better support system tailored to your
needs.
Updating your details will ensure
you are kept up to date with events & best practice in
your area.
CALLING ALL CHAMPIONS
PLEASE UPDATE YOUR PROFILE
Once our records are fully updated, we will be
able to contact you to draw your
attention to specific topics & events related
to your interests.
We
are also introducing a new feature that will enable
champions to contact each other if they wish.
Champions have asked for this feature
so they can network, share stories and initiatives
and contact champions who live locally who have the
same interests. You will be able to find
champions who work in the same care setting
or for the same organisation as you do.
We will keep your details confidential and will
not release your contact details to other
champions. If you do not want to be contacted
by other champions please still update your details so
that the national campaign team can contact you with
information relevant for yourself.
Please complete all details this should only take
5 minutes.

address change
DH Care
Networks,
All change at care networks, 24/03/2009
Today is D-Day for the networks formerly hosted
by the Care Services Improvement Partnership (CSIP) and the Care
Services Efficiency Delivery (CSED) programme. The networks change
their domain name today as part of their evolving identity and
relationship to the regions and the Department of
Health.
The new domain name will be
www.DHcarenetworks.org.uk
Accessing the Networks
For individual networks just add the network
name. For example, the personalisation network will be
www.DHcarenetworks.org.uk/personalisation
, while the CSED programme website material can be
reached at
www.DHcarenetworks.org.uk/csed
(see below for a full list).
You will still be able to
access the networks or programmes through the old web addresses but
they will redirect you to the new domain. The new domain name
should be availab le for most users today (Wednesday 25 March) but
for some the switch might not take place until
tomorrow.
CSIP ceases to exist as a separate entity and
brand on 31 March .The various programmes which previously worked
under the CSIP umbrella will continue their work either in the
regions or as part of the central policy teams of the Department of
Health.
John Bolton, director of strategic finance for
social care, local government and care partnerships, said: "The
important thing is that the networks are very much alive and
carrying on their work. I'm delighted to be working closely with
these key teams so that, together with colleagues across the
Department of Health, we can drive forward the Putting People First
agenda and help re-shape policy and services to really put users at
the heart of everything we do."
Jeremy Porteus, National Programme Lead, said: "I
am sure the networks will continue serving their thousands of
members and that the change in identity will have little or no
impact on you."

If we consider again the 10
action points below it is evident why this is at the heart of what
we do.
1. Have a zero tolerance
of all forms of abuse
2. Support people with the same respect you
would want for yourself or a member of your family
3. Treat each person as an individual by
offering a personalised service
4. Enable people to maintain the maximum
possible level of independence, choice, and control
5. Listen and support people to express
their needs and wants
6. Respect people’s right to
privacy
7. Ensure people feel able to complain without
fear of retribution
8. Engage with family members and carers as care
partners
9. Assist people to maintain confidence and
a positive self esteem
10. Act to alleviate people’s loneliness and
isolation
We would love to hear about
practical examples of how you, or your organisation, have
demonstrated positive outcomes for vulnerable people and their
families and carers. Let us know and we will gladly feature your
examples in forthcoming editions of the Adult
Safeguarding newsletter. If you have any articles on
