The Suffolk Adult Safeguarding Board is an
inter-agency forum which promotes the protection of vulnerable
adults from abusive behaviour and practice.
The focus of the Adult Safeguarding Board is to
facilitate effective inter-agency collaboration and co-operation at
all levels of safeguarding work. It is essential that all partners
and stakeholders work closely to develop a robust response in order
to protect vulnerable people from abuse and
harm.

The NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney Adult
Safeguarding team is responsible for ensuring that all of the NHS
Great Yarmouth and Waveney contracted services understand their
responsibilities for both identifying, reporting and, if required,
supporting social services’ investigation of disclosed or suspected
adult abuse and providing leadership and guidance on safeguarding
adults to all provider community health staff (nursing,
physiotherapy, podiatry, occupational therapy) so that they know
how to take swift and effective steps to protect patients from
abuse.
The department forms a key component
of Great Yarmouth and Waveney’s Patient Safety and Clinical Quality
Strategy, and indicates the Trust’s clear commitment to provide
expert, evidence based clinical leadership on all aspects of the
safeguarding adults agenda.

Norfolk & Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust provides a
range of specialist mental health services to nearly 800,000 people
from all age ranges across Norfolk and the Waveney area of Suffolk.
We also provide medium secure services to the whole of Norfolk,
Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
Many of our services, especially in-patient services, are centred
around the city of Norwich and the coastal towns of Great Yarmouth
and Lowestoft. However, our staff also provide a range of services
in a variety of settings and community locations throughout the
catchment area. This reflects the complexity of the services we
provide and the urban and rural nature of the locality.
We work in partnership with other statutory and non-statutory
bodies that provide services to people suffering mental ill health,
and as a partnership Trust we also provide integrated health and
social care services.
At any one time 14,000 people are receiving care and attention
from the Trust.

Suffolk Family
Carers is a charity whose key role is that of supporting family
carers of all ages and has a proven track record of more than
twenty years. It can be trusted to listen to and understand,
providing information, support and advocacy to improve the lives of
family carers of all ages, who without payment, provide help and
support to a partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour, who
could not manage without their help. This could be due to age,
physical or mental illness, addiction or
disability.
Suffolk Family Carers is committed to working in partnership and
has have four core Teams - Community Support, Mental Health, and
Young Carers and Young Adult Carers and the Acute and Primary Care
Team - as well as various other projects providing services
throughout Suffolk, whilst also delivering the Caring With
Confidence training in Norfolk and Essex.

services to help people live independently in their own
homes.
Housing Related Support Services can help you:
- set up and manage
your home
- apply for benefits
- make life choices
- learn domestic and life skills
- find out about work, training and social
learning
- access other support or community
services
- provide assistive technology — only when part of
a larger support package
- develop social skills to reduce
isolation
We work in partnership with county, district and
borough councils, health, probation, voluntary organisations,
housing associations, support agencies and service users.
Our aim is to:
- Prevent problems that can cause
homelessness, debt or rent arrears, hospitalisation or
institutional care
- Make sure services are of high quality and cost
effective
- Make sure services meet the needs of each
person
Around 9000 vulnerable people currently benefit from
Supporting People funding in Suffolk. Supporting People funds
housing related support services to help people live independently
in their own homes. We work in partnership with county, district
and borough councils, health, probation, voluntary organisations,
housing associations support agencies and service
users.
