Saxmundham is an historic market town at the centre of the Heritage Coastal region in Suffolk, England. Saxmundham, or 'Sax' as it is known locally, has many local shops and businesses, sports and leisure facilities, as well as good rail links and the A12 trunk road that put the town within easy reach of Ipswich, Norwich, London, and the whole of mainland Europe.

Saxmundham town boasts a large Waitrose supermarket, both a new Primary school and a Middle school, a library, a Post Office, two banks and a building society, a stationers, a health clinic, an optician, a church and a chapel, a hotel (10 rooms & restaurant), four pubs, a deli - bistro, an ironmongers, a newsagent, an electrical shop, two garages selling petrol, five hairdressers, a fish & chip shop, three restaurants (Thai, Chinese & Indian), a cafe, two takeaways ( Chinese & Greek), a dry cleaners, a bookshop, a cardshop, a museum, a baker, a butcher (with a game licence), a farm shop, an angling shop and a Wednesday Market day. Virtually all the shops are independents. It also has a police station, an ambulance station and a fire station.

A new development of over 600 homes just completed, has doubled the population over the last few years.
