Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act
The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act, which
gained Royal Assent in November 2006, was introduced specifically
in response to recommendation 19, of Sir Michael Bichard's
inquiry into the tragic murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
The Act provides the framework for the new Independent Safeguarding
Authority scheme for these groups and extends parts of the scheme
to Northern Ireland. The Safeguarding Children's Board welcomes
your views and comments.
