Welcome to Sproughton, a village of about 550 houses situated
three miles west of Ipswich in the county of Suffolk.
The heart of our village contains a mediaeval Church and Rectory, a
16th Century Tithe Barn, a 17th Century Hall and an 18th Century
Water Mill on the River Gipping. We have two Pubs, a Primary
School and (until
2006) a Post Office. The Parish
Council obtained grants to establish a
Community
Shop in the
Tithe Barn. The shop, which is run
by a Community Interest Company,
opened
on 25th
March 2010. Details

There are about 24 recreational and social clubs and groups
in Sproughton.
We have recently completed our Parish Plan, which was the spur for
this first attempt at a village web site. We are developing and
improving this site by degrees!
 Sproughton
Parish Council has
successfully completed the
insulation work to the Tithe Barn,
funded by grants from the East
of England Development Agency
and Suffolk County Council. The
Tithe Barn is owned by the Parish
Council and is currently used for community functions -
social,
sporting and educational.
