The Suffolk Strategic Partnership (SSP) launched its Performance Reward Grant (PRG) worth £753,000 on 6th August 2007 with a closing date of 26th October 2007. The grant could be applied for through a tender application process that was open to groups who wish to apply to deliver activities that will help to address childhood obesity, the engagement of young people, that strengthen links between communities and the natural environment, help communities to reduce carbon emissions, that promote social inclusion, support social enterprises, improve rural service provision, and that support 2012 in Suffolk.

The grant scheme proved very popular as a total of 89 applications was received requesting a total value from PRG worth £3,958,000.

All 89 applications were appraised by the External Funding and Programmes Team at Suffolk County Council using an objective appraisal framework agreed by the SSP. The completed appraisals were considered by the Local Area Agreement Block Boards as part of the decision making process to approve or not to approve the tender applications. All approved tender applications were ratified by the SSP Chief Executives Panel and final approval was given by the SSP Board on the 17th December 2007.
