While Suffolk Coastal is a
generally healthy area of Suffolk in which to live and work, there
are still some priorities for helping to improve the health and
well-being of people in our local communities.
The
Public Health Observatory Community Health
Profile (PDF 400kb) identifies health need and differences
across the district.
Health, and how a person perceives their own health and well-being,
is a result of many factors, including the environment in which we
live, our housing, education and employment, social networks, and
actual physical or mental health.
The Adults and Healthier Communities group of the Suffolk Coastal
Local Strategic Partnership links with organisations across the
district to identify where we can make improvements to services,
information or support so that individuals and communities can make
and access healthier choices.
Some of this relates to the lifestyle choices that individuals make
and the influence that has on their short and long-term health. In
addition the group seeks to ensure that service improvement
reflects local need and is responsive to the unique character of
areas within Suffolk Coastal District, such as our urban areas of
Felixstowe and the market towns or the widespread rural
villages.
The Lead Officer is Olive Quinton, Health Improvement Manager at
Suffolk Coastal District Council, who can be contacted by
email or by calling 01394 444697.
The group is made of representatives of the Suffolk Primary Care
Trust, Suffolk Coastal District Council, Suffolk County Council,
Suffolk ACRE, Age Concern, and DC Leisure. For further details of
