(Understanding Youth Work Principles and Practice level 2 (QCF))

This interactive, practical course draws on real life scenarios to build confidence and youth work practice skills.

The course is run over 7 weeks including 3 evening sessions, a tutorial and tasks based in the learners youth work setting. Learners will complete a workbook including written assignments and a Journal as evidence for assessment.  This course will give learners time in their youth work setting to put into practice learning from the evening sessions and complete the written assignments.

Participants should expect to undertake an average of 4 hours learning each week in order to complete this course. They will also be expected to attend all of the evening sessions and tutorial.

This course contributes to the NOCN Level 2 Award in Youth Work Practice (QCF).

Who is it for?

·            Learners must be aged 18+, working with young people aged 13 and over

·            Learners must be working (paid or unpaid) in a youth work setting (av. 3 hrs pwk)

·            Learners must have been in their youth work setting for at least 6 months

·            Proof of identity, address, CRB check and eligibility will be required

 

Course Content and dates

Wednesday 18 April

 

Session 1: Understand the purpose and role of youth work intervention

Wednesday 2 May

 

Session 2: Understand the skills, knowledge, qualities and values required to practice within youth work

Wednesday 16 May

 

Session   3: Tutorial

Wednesday 25 May

 

Session 4: Understand the principles and practice of equal opportunities


Sessions will be 6.45 pm – 9.30 pm at Castle Hill Community Centre, Ipswich

Course fees

This course is heavily subsidised at £45 per learner for VCS groups through funding secured by Young Suffolk. Other providers will be charged the full rate of £140.

Please note applicants who get a place will be advised around 3 weeks before the course start date. After this sucessful applicants cheques will be banked.

Applicants not getting a place will be advised and their cheques returned 3 weeks before the course start date.
